ALL SHIBA PEOPLE, PLEASE READ THIS:
In November a friend and I went to Latvia to pick up two shiba puppies.
I have been searching for shiba nr. 2 for more than two years, my friend is a breeder, and wanted a new female for her breedingAs I saw the pictures of those parents and the puppies and that all dogs in the kennel were tested for the known illness in the breed, there were no doubt in my mind…, this was where I want to go to pick up my new boy.
I contacted the breeder and after telling her about myself, she wanted me to have one of her puppies, and my friend as well.
When we should pick them up, I wanted to take them in the airport and go back to Denmark again after few hours, but the breeder insisted that we should visit her and see all dogs, and the kennel. So we decided to stay for two days.
I must say we were very surprised about what we saw. We have both been in the dog world for around 30 years, and have both seen a lot in both Denmark and many other countries. We were met by a bunch of dogs, mostly shibas. But also 3 akita, 3 borzoi and 3 shetland sheepdogs. In all around 20 dogs. What surprised us was that ALL dogs were together as one happy family. We both know that having more dogs of the same sex can be sometimes very difficult, but there were NO growling or fighting or ANY signs of that. Such as scars or wounds. The garden, where most of the dogs were, were clean with no shit, and the dogs were clean, not too clean (as if they were all bathed before we came) But VERY well kept and ALL of them with VERY well temperament. Playfull and trusting toward people, which can be a problem in the shibas if they are not well treated. This requires a VERY good leader who can both take good care and tell dogs who is the boss in a good way. I know that for sure as I have had Alaskan Malamutes for 25 years.
In the house, there were 5-6 dogs day and night in turn. The house were minimalistic. There were no television or radio. The whole family used all time for the dogs. And the dogs laid in the two sofas in the living room at nights and us old dogbreeders could see that they were used to that life.. We only saw HAPPY dogs.
As we came home we have both got each the most fantastic, well-fed, well embossed healthy puppies with lovely character. We are both very satisfied puppy buyers and ALL papers were done and ready as we came. We have received export pedigrees, so in all we would always recommend this breeder to anyone.
Why am I writing this? After we came home we discovered that this breeder is not very popular. People are writing very bad things on facebook. And I have seen that someone has been writing that we have taken puppies to Denmark without rabiesvacc. That is true, but before telling lies after lies, please find out the rules in our country. You can take in a puppy between 8 weeks and 3 mth without having rabiesvacc, if you get permission from the Danish fødevarestyrelse. It makes me SO angry that you people out there talk about things you know NOTHING about, and that you make out, what seems to me as a witch hunting to a upcoming young star, who you maybe see as a competitor. I don’t know what you know, but the facts are from my point of view, what I have been writing here. And believe me: I have seen BAD breeders and BAD treatment and temperament of dogs!!!!!!
I would very much like to make an appeal to you people out there: Don’t let the dogworld be such a cruel and mean place to bee. Although we do not agree in everything, we all share the same interest. Let’s meet in the love of the dogs and maybe even cooperate. The people we don’t like or disagree with, let go of them, but don’t start a war!!!
